CH Wonderland Rory MacPlum

(Telltail Brigadoon x Coedwig’s Plum Kinda Wonderful)

Whelped May 2017

A few years ago I purchased several old copies of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Handbook.  I began pouring over them, making notes each time a photo of a particular dog caught my eye.  There was one in particular that I kept going back to.  Later a friend loaned me some old National videos and I was delighted to be able to see so many of the dogs I would never have the opportunity to see in the flesh.

I began to do some research and was disappointed to find that that dog I was smitten with was no longer available for breeding.  A while later I was at a show and a lovely young bitch puppy caught my eye, so I inquired as to her breeding.  I found that she was sired by a dog that turned out to be a son of the dog I mentioned above.  When I inquired about breeding to this dog, again I was told I was too late.  Not to be deterred – I can be quite persistent –  I inquired about still another dog that I had seen at a show.  Believe it or not – not available.  But I was told of a very nice young son of his that was.  His name was Briggs.  I secured a photo of him and was quite taken with his lovely conformation.  When I looked at his bloodlines I was delighted to find all three of the dogs I had previously been unable to get to.  And so I booked my lovely “Plum” to him in hopes of getting a puppy that fit that image of what had struck me those few years ago.

When little Rory was born I immediately felt she was quite special and by the time she was nine weeks old I felt fairly certain that I had been successful in producing my dream puppy.  Up until this time, I was not sure that I would register her name as “Rory”, since that would be a name with big shoes to fill.  But a couple of weeks before her first show, I decided she was worthy of the name and went ahead and registered her as Wonderland Rory MacPlum.  She did not let me down.  At her very first show, at just four months an three days old, she not only won her Beginner Puppy Herding Group but was chosen for Best Beginner Puppy In Show!

I have high hopes for this lovely young bitch.  She is a joy to look at and an even greater joy to work with.  And it goes without saying how delighted I am that this cross, that I had sought so hard to make happen, turned out this special little lady, affectionately know here in Wonderland as “Rory Poly”.

In the spring of 2018 I was fortunate to be contacted by Paula O’Donnell of Telltail Cardigans.  She expressed an interest in my Rory.  To make a long story short, Paula and I became fast friends and we decide to share this very special girl.  Rory now lives with Paula in FL.  She has a new nickname – Rory 2.0!  Paula and Rory will be stepping into the show ring later this year.  We are both quite excited about Rory’s very bright future.

*** Shortly after finishing her AKC Championship with her exciting win at the 2019 Cardigan National Specialty, Rory was bred to “Dickens”.  In July she whelped a singleton sable bitch puppy.  “My-My” – Wonderland Telltail Me & My Shadow,  is spectacular in every way.  We are over the moon about her.  Please see “My-My”s page here on the site.

****In April of 2020 Rory had her second litter of six outstanding puppies.  Handsome, Skye, Scout, Summer (owned by Sonya Ferrari in CA, Jordey owned by Troy and Rachel Puchalski in NC, and Nova owned by Sara Austin on NC.  All of these puppies are show quality!  Please visit some of their pages here on the site.
